Maldivians in Singapore urged to register at embassy

Maldives' Embassy in Singapore, on Saturday, reiterated its request for Maldivians residing in the country to register at the embassy, as a precautionary measure amidst the ongoing coronavirus outbreak.

In a tweet, the embassy also urged Maldivians in Singapore to abide by the health and travel advisory it released earlier.

Till date, a total of 13 coronavirus cases were diagnosed in Singapore, all of whom are Chinese tourists from Wuhan.

The Singaporean government prohibited Chinese citizens from travelling and transiting in the country on Saturday.

According to latest updates, the death toll from the novel coronavirus (2019-nCoV) has reached 304.

The virus has now been confirmed in 24 countries, infecting over 14,000 people globally.

Philippines on Sunday reported the first known coronavirus related death outside China.

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the situation a global health emergency in the late hours of January 30.
