EC receives 41 complaints on voter's registry for local elections

The Elections Commission (EC), on Saturday, stated that it received a total of 41 complaints regarding the voter's registry compiled for the local council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) elections, scheduled for April 4.

According to Ahmed Akram, Vice President of the commission, the most frequent complaints concerned discrepancies in addresses, of which 22 complaints were lodged.

Inclusion of deceased people was the second most common complaint, with 15 cases reported.

EC will continue accepting complaints regarding the list from 0830 hrs to 1500 on official working days and from 0900 hrs to 1500 on weekends until January 31.

Complaints can be lodged at island councils or at the elections office housed in former Jamaluddin School.
