Maldivian Correctional Service (MCS) and the Police, on Thursday, apprehended an inmate after he fled from Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) during a health screening earlier the same day.
MCS stated that the 24-year-old man imprisoned on drug charges, Aisaru Naseem, escaped through a window after he was escorted to a room for sample collection with his handcuffs removed.
Reportedly, the man was wearing a face mask when he escaped, and fled in a car outside of the hospital.
The man was apprehended in Hulhumale with assistance from police and is currently under the custody of MCS.
