Authorities on Monday begin search for the missing captain of a boat which ran aground a reef near Kagi Male atoll.
According to MNDF, they received reports of the boat running aboard a reef at 8 am today.
In addition to the 37-year old Maldivian captain, two foreign crew members were onboard the vessel.
The national coastguard is leading the search efforts to find the missing 37-year old man, reported MNDF's media officer, Major Ibrahim Azim.
It is not yet certain whether the captain went missing from falling off the boat or whether he got lost while inspecting the accident following the hit, reports local media Mihaaru.
MNDF's media official further stated that the captain's bag and the phone remained on the boat.
Meanwhile, MNDF continues the search for a missing 41-year old man, Nasrullah Abdullah, who was lost at sea in a marine accident near Dhonfanu in Baa Atoll last Thursday.
