Bank of Maldives (BML), on Wednesday, announced the five islands that received the 'Aharenge Bank Community Fund' grant for the fourth quarter of the programme.

The grants were awarded to Kumundhoo in Haa Dhaalu Atoll for the instalment of solar lights, Guraidhoo in Thaa Atoll to establish a recycling point, Kurinbi in Haa Dhaalu Atoll for construction of a fitness park, Hoarafushi in Haa Alif Atoll to build a children's park and Vilufushi in Thaa Atoll for the establishment of an outdoor gym.

"With this, [BML] has assisted community projects in 20 islands this year under the community fund", said BML's Manager Public Relations Mohamed Saeed.

"The bank's biggest aim is to give back to the society from the profit. With the community fund, the efforts to financially aid projects taking place across the country has increased."

The community fund initiative was launched under the 'Aharenge Bank' programme to strengthen the sense of community amongst Maldivians.
