The St. Regis Maldives Vommuli Resort developed in the island of Vommuli in Dhaalu atoll was unveiled Tuesday.

It is the first property in the Maldives to be managed by St. Regis, the main luxury brand of Starwood Hotels and Resorts which has been merged with the world’s top luxury hotel chain, Mariott International of the United States. Prior to the merge, Starwood already operated two of its brands in the Maldives: a W Hotel in the island of Fesdhoo in Alif Alif atoll, and its flagship Sheraton brand in the former Full Moon resort.

The luxury first-class resort in Vommuli features 77 villas. The water villas, designed by a Singapore firm, are in the shape of rays, while the resort’s signature bar and spa are designed in the basis of a whale shark and lobster respectively.
