Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid arrived in New Delhi early Wednesday to attend the 6th India-Maldives Joint Commission Meeting slated for December 13.

He is accompanied by a delegation comprised of representatives from various bodies involved in the thematic areas being reviewed at the joint commission meeting.

The minister was received at Indira Gandhi International Airport by Joint Secretary Amit Narang of the Ministry of External Affairs of India.

The joint commission between Maldives and India was established in 1986, under the Agreement on Economic and Technical Cooperation with the primary aim of improving bilateral relations in all spheres. The last meeting was held in Maldives' capital, Male' City, in 2015.
