AG seeks state guardianship for 11 children

The Attorney General's Office, on Sunday, lodged several cases at the Family Court seeking to bring 11 children under state guardianship.

AG Office revealed that the children in question, aged between 6 months and 13 years, were taken into state custody after their parents neglected them, repeatedly refused to care for them or in situation which none of their relatives took responsibility for their care.

All the children are currently under the custody Ministry of Gender, Family, and Social Services. According to the AG Office, the gender ministry had revealed that the majority of the children's parents were drug abusers.

AG Office stated that it had finished forwarding all similar cases submitted by the gender ministry to the Family Court. The court is presently reviewing an 18 additional state requests to transfer children under its guardianship.
