Accolades rained over the Maldives as the World Luxury Hotel Awards, which celebrates luxury resorts and hotels around the globe, announced its winners for 2016.
The Maldives received awards in nearly every international category at the ceremony held in the St Regis Hotel in Doha, Qatar last Saturday night. Six resorts of the Maldives were named winners worldwide in the following categories:
Luxury Beach Resort – The Sun Siyam Iru Fushi Maldives
Luxury Water Villa Resort – Diamonds Thudufushi
Luxury Green Hotel – Constance Moofushi Maldives
Luxury Guest House – Hotel Ocean Grand Hotel
Grand Excellence Award – Conrad Maldives Rangali Island
Luxury Family All-Inclusive Hotel – Lily Beach Resort & Spa
Two resorts of the Maldives won in the Asian region categories with Coco Collection placing first as best resort brand while Conrad Maldives Rangali Island received the Luxury Villa Resort award.
Six other resorts also won accolades from the South Asian region, with:
Luxury Private Pool Villa – Hideaway Beach Resort & Spa at Dhonakulhi
Luxury Honeymoon Hotel – Makunudu island, JA Manafaru
Luxury Airport Hotel – Hulhule Island Hotel
Luxury Boutique Hotel – Mirihi Island
Luxury Spa Hotel – The Sun Siyam Iru Fushi Maldives
Additionally, seven other resorts won awards in the national category.
Luxury Villa Resort – Conrad Maldives Rangali Island
Luxury Island Resort – Jumeirah Vittaveli
Luxury Family All-Inclusive Hotel – Kurumba Maldives
Luxury Beach Resort – Lily Beach Resort & Spa
Luxury Romantic Hotel – Royal Island Resort
Luxury Adult beach Resort – Centara Ras Fushi
Luxury Honeymoon Hotel – Coco Palm Bodu Hithi
World Luxury Hotel Awards, which commenced a decade prior, featured 60 categories this year with the levels split amongst worldwide, regional and national. The Maldives competed against a number of brands and resorts renowned internationally in the awards this year.
As one of the top tourist destinations in the world, the Maldives has received continual awards and accolades for its globally acclaimed tourism industry and resorts, including honours such as the top island destination and best beaches.
