President Solih sends condolences over passing of former Sri Lankan PM

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih sent condolences to the President of Sri Lanka Gotabaya Rajapaksa, following the death of former Sri Lankan Prime Minister D.M Jayarante.

In his message, he expressed sadness upon hearing the news. He noted Jayarantne's invaluable contributions to national development and reforms.

Furthermore, President Solih stated that former PM's contributions would be remembered for generations to come.

"At this time of national loss, the Government and the people of the Maldives join me in extending our sympathies to Your Excellency, the Government and the people of Sri Lanka."

President Solih conveyed condolences to the family of late Prime Minister Jayarantne.

The veteran politician was the 14th Prime Minister of Sri Lanka from 2010 to 2015. He was also a founding member of Sri Lanka Freedom Party and was first elected to the parliament in 1970.
