Speaker of Parliament and former President Mohamed Nasheed travelled to Addu on Saturday.
Nasheed, who is currently contesting for a second term of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP)'s President, was received with a warm welcome by party members and councillors.
Hithadhoo North MP Mohamed Aslam who is running for the position of MDP's Vice President, Minister of Finance Ibrahim Ameer and other MDP members are amongst the team travelling with Nasheed.
The Parliament Speaker is scheduled to visit different wards of Addu to meet MDP supporters, stopping by at Hulhumeedhoo on Sunday.
In addition, Nasheed will also be the guest of honour at the closing ceremony of a rowing event that will take place at Hithadhoo on Saturday evening.
Nasheed embarked for the Southern Atolls for the Southern Symposium held at Villingili, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll. After the closing ceremony of the symposium, Nasheed also visited Fuvahmulah on Friday.
