Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure on Monday awarded the project to develop a new office complex in reclaimed suburb Hulhumale', to Hunan Construction Engineering of China for MVR 185 million.
The agreement was signed by the ministry's Permanent Secretary Zeeniya Ahmed, while Legal Representative Wang Hi signed on behalf of Hunan.
According to the spokesperson for the planning ministry, the project entails the construction of a six-storey office complex on a land plot of 25,000 square foot. The plot is located near Tree Top Hospital.
The project is to be completed within a year, after which some of the offices currently based in capital Male' City will be transferred to the new complex.
Hunan Construction Engineering was also the contractor of the link road connecting Hulhumale' with airport island Hulhule', which was developed for USD 24 million (MVR 370 million).
