Ex-MP Alhan's attacker sentenced to 7 years

Criminal Court on Sunday sentenced the man who stabbed former MP of Feydhoo constituency, Alhan Fahmy, to seven years in prison.

Alhan was attacked in February 2014 while he was at Breakwater Cafe' which was located near Artificial Beach at the time. He suffered injuries to the back and spine, for which he had to seek treatment from abroad as well.

Mohamed Naseem from Hithadhdoo, Addu City, was found guilty despite maintained denial. According to the court, a confidential witness testified against Naseem, proving his guilt.

Furthermore, the video analysis report of surveillance footage from the area showed that the 'the attacker', who was seen running away from the crime scene, had multiple features that matched with Naseem.

He was sentenced by the Criminal Court to five years in prison for inflicting bodily harm on another, and two more years for using a sharp-edged object to commit the crime.
