The Privatization and Corporatization Board (PCB) on Thursday, appointed Moosa Ali Manik as the Managing Director of the recently established state-run Road Development Corporation (RDC).
According to local media Mihaaru, PCB is working towards appointing two additional directors.
Manik, who holds a degree in law, recently failed the by-elections as a Maldivian Democratic Party candidate prior to the Parliamentary elections held in April.
RDC’s mandate is to facilitate the building of high-quality roads across Maldives, in order to increase their connectivity. Overseeing such projects and creating a framework to maintain roads are also part of the company's mandate.
A similar company was established in former President Mohamed Nasheed's administration by the name of Maldives Road Development Corporation (MRDC). The company was run by the state during former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom's administration as well.
