Minister of Tourism Ali Waheed announced Wednesday that over 500 job opportunities in the hospitality industry would be unveiled for locals at the upcoming job fair.

Speaking at a press conference, Minister Waheed stated that the three-day tourism job fair, which kicks off Friday in commemoration of World Tourism Day, will be the biggest fair to be held in Maldives to date.

He highlighted that unlike previous job fairs which were open to all, this year's tourism fair focuses solely on locals in a bid to increase Maldivian presence in the hospitality industry.

"... I'm happy to note that over 500 job opportunities will be unveiled at the fair. We will also organise free transfers every half hour for fair participants", said the minister of the fair which is to be held in Farukolhu Fushi.

According to the minister, the fair will also provide internships at various resorts in addition to employment opportunities, and full scholarships to 10 of the participants.

Minister Waheed further stated that the activities planned for Tourism Day will feature all-Maldivian talents as well.
