Maldives Customs Service, on Wednesday, revealed that a Bangladeshi immigrant was seized with 3.69 kilograms of illegal narcotics in his possession.

The 36-year-old male, who arrived at Velana International Airport (VIA) on Tuesday, was carrying cannabis in his luggage, Customs said.

According to authorities, the drugs were seized upon inspection due to his suspicious behaviour at the airport.

Customs estimates the street value of the drugs at MVR 2.9 million.

This year alone, Customs confiscated a total of 28.49 kilograms of illegal narcotics entering the country.
