President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, on Saturday, attended the closing ceremony of ‘Miladhekunu Adhabee Eid 2019’, a linguistic fair on local Dhivehi language.
The fifth instalment of the event, organized by Dhivehi Bahuge Academy, was held at Manadhoo, Noonu Atoll, from September 11 to 14.
Annually hosted to create awareness and enthusiasm among students concerning the Dhivehi language, the 'Adhabee Eid' was previously held in Gaafu Alif Atoll, Gaafu Dhaalu Atoll, Lhaviyani Atoll and Meemu Atoll.
At the ceremony held at Manadhoo's harbour area, President Solih presented Miladhekunu Adhabee Eid awards and certificates to participants and winners.
The four-day event involved a children’s cultural evening, a book fair, a poetry skills development programme and linguistic training programmes aimed at government institutions as well as students and teachers.
The president was accompanied by Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage Yumna Maumoon as well as other senior government officials.
President Solih returned to the capital city of Male’ on Sunday morning following his trip to Noonu Atoll.
