Maldives Immigration apprehended an impersonator who attempted to enter Maldives on Sunday.

According to Immigration's tweet, the man used the passport of a lookalike to fraudulently enter the country. No additional details were shared by the institution.

Immigration is doubling down on its border security to curb such incidents.

The department further revealed that of the 144,607 registered expatriates in the country under work visas, 63,000 do not possess proper documentation. The matter of human trafficking is considered a significant issue.
