214 cases received in July: Gender Ministry

Ministry of Gender, Family and Social Services revealed on Sunday that 214 cases were received and attended by the ministry in July 2019.on

According to the monthly statistics publicised by the Ministry, compared to June 2019, there was an 11 percent decrease in the numbers of reported cases.

Notably, 105 of the reported cases were related to children. Gender ministry stated that out of this, 35 are sexual abuse cases.

Meanwhile, 25 cases of negligence, 19 cases of physical abuse, 11 cases of emotional abuse and seven cases of bullying and harassment were reported. A single case of child trafficking was reported in July.

A total of 27 family-related cases were reported, out of which 14 were custody and child access cases. Additionally, there were 10 cases of parenting and three cases of child management.

Several cases of gender-based violence and domestic violence were reported in July as well. There were 13 cases of physical violence, seven cases of emotional abuse, five cases of sexual violence, four cases of rape, three cases of intimidation, two cases of negligence and one case of controlling behaviour.

Until July 1613 cases were reported to Gender Ministry, with the most number of cases being reported in January. While 274 cases were reported, 128 of them were related to children.
