Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), on Thursday, scheduled its first 'Youth Congress' for August 30 and 31.
Speaking at the press conference held at MDP's Main Office, Youth Wing President and Galolhu South MP Meekail Ahmed Naseem revealed that the congress will be held in Huravee School in reclaimed suburb Hulhumale'.
Additionally, the Director of Congress Aik Ahmed Easa stated that the party will establish a youth wing charter, introduce a revamped logo, host discussions to formulate a three-year work plan and the dissemination of the party's 2018 annual report.
Aik further noted two separate components of the congress, including a "pre-congress workshop" on August 30 aimed at collecting concerns and suggestions from participants in addition to the voting aspect of the congress which will conclude on August 31.
Moreover, Youth Wing Vice President Mohamed Ansar, highlighted MDP's desire to foster opportunities for young individuals to pursue the field of politics.
While International Youth Day is officially marked on August 12, Aik declared that MDP will celebrate the occasion on the final day of the congress, in light of the party's largest congregation of its youth demographic.
The youth wing 'Zuvaanunge Hivvaru', loosely translated as the 'hope of youth', was established by the party’s second congress in October 2010, as part of various reforms to modernize the party.
