Police on Wednesday arrested two expatriates over smuggling drugs into Maldives.
The suspects are a 35-year-old woman from Costa Rica and a 42-year-old man from Singapore.
The woman was arrested after Customs discovered the substances in her luggage. The man was arrested later that night in a police operation conducted at a guesthouse in reclaimed suburb, after the police followed up on accusations made against him.
According to the police, the woman had four rubber bundles and a bag containing narcotics in her luggage. She arrived in Maldives from Doha, Qatar, on Wednesday evening.
Police stated that they were undertaking further investigations.
Five people were also arrested last week with six kilograms of drugs.
