A team from the Presidential Commission on Enforced Disappearances and Deaths traveled to Fuvahmulah to probe the case of Mohamed Shafeeu, who went missing two years ago under questionable circumstances.

Replying to a Tweet by a citizen requesting to reopen the investigation into Shafeeu's disappearance, the commission stated that an investigation team was currently in Fuvahmulah regarding the case.

The commission's tweet further assured that they were committed to finding the truth.

Shafeeu, 42, disappeared on July 14, 2017. He left his residence in Dhoonigam around 2130 hrs at night after dinner to visit his mother's house, also located in the same district.

At the time, citizens of Fuvahmulah and Maldives Police Service conducted searches throughout the island and the waters surrounding it, but Shafeeu was not found.
