Privately run Tree Top Hospital on Wednesday signed an agreement to perform knee joint replacement surgeries free of charge.
The agreement was signed between Tree Top, national healthcare insurance provider Aasandha Company, and state-run Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH). Tree Top and IGMH were represented by their CEOs David Feinberg and Ibrahim Saleem respectively, while Managing Director Mariyam Shafeeq signed on behalf of Aasandha.
Under the contract, IGMH would refer patients to Tree Top for knee replacement surgeries. IGMH's CEO Saleem noted that the hospital currently has 173 patients on the wait list, and thus the arrangement would help to shorten the queue.
As per the agreement, Aasandha would bear the cost of MVR 63,000 charged by Tree Top for knee joint replacement.
Aasandha's MD Mariyam Shafeeq further revealed that the company planned to sign another agreement with Tree Top in the future to provide free hip-related surgeries at the hospital.
Tree Top previously performed discounted knee replacement surgeries, with Aasandha bearing MVR 50,000 of the cost while patients were charged MVR 23,000.
