Sri Lankan company Civil and Structural Engineering Consultants (CSEC) signs agreement with Maldives National University (MNU)

Sri Lanka’s Civil and Structural Engineering Consultants Pvt Ltd (CSEC) on Monday signed an agreement to provide technical assistance to Maldives National University (MNU).

MNU Vice Chancellor Dr Ali Fawaz Shareef signed the agreement on behalf of the university and CSEC Managing Director Shiromal Fernando represented the company, in the signing ceremony held at MNU.

Under the contract, the company will provide undergraduate scholarships to MNU students and aid in the completion of internships, as well as provide technical training to the university's lecturers. Further, the terms state that students will be able to receive assistance from Australia's University of Melbourne for their research projects. The contract also provides the opportunity for students of the two universities to collaborate in publishing academic writings.

Moreover, the contract allows for the participation in guest lecturers’ trainings and the opportunity to hold international conferences in Maldives. Conducting distance-learning programmes was also discussed in collusion with the Open University of Sri Lanka.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Managing Director of CSEC highlighted the company’s current engineering work in Maldives and expressed his happiness in aiding the youth of Maldives to move forward in the industry.

CSEC is an international company that provides engineering and structural assistance, currently working on a luxury resort in Vaikaradhoo, Baa Atoll, as well as Nasandhura Residence in the capital Male’. Notable projects undertaken by CSEC include the Lotus Tower and City Centre in Colombo, Sri Lanka.
