President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Monday met with Lakshman Namal Rajapaksa, the son of the former president of Sri Lanka, Mahinda Rajapaksa.
In a tweet following the sit-down at the President's Office, Namal Rajapaksa highlighted the strong ties between Maldives and Sri Lanka, and stated that the two South Asian neighbours will continue to build upon the relationship.

A member of the Sri Lankan parliamentarian and opposition, Namal Rajapaksa was received at Velana International Airport by Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment, Ahmed Mahloof.
He was also in attendance at the inauguration ceremony of President Solih on November 17, 2018.
