The inauguration ceremony took place at the President's Office, following official talks between the high level delegations of India and Maldives.

Relevant government institutions of Maldives and India also exchanged the following Memorandums of Understanding, witnessed by the president and prime minister:

- MOU between Maldives' Civil Service and India's National Centre for Good Governance, to facilitate trainings and capacity building programmes for Maldivian civil servants.

The Indian government will provide the full expenses to train 1000 civil servants in fields such as public administration, e-governance and service delivery, public policy and implementation, best practices in fisheries and coastal areas, agro-based practices and implementing the Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) set by United Nation Development Programme (UNDP).

- MOU between Maldives Customs Service and India's Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs, to strengthen the capacity of Maldives’ Customs and modernise services.

This agreement is intended to strengthen the capacity of Maldives’ Customs and help modernize their services and increase the states' efficiency in collecting revenue. The agreement will also help promote the understanding of customs related policies, procedures and systems by facilitating knowledge exchange on best international practices.

- MOU to establish passenger and cargo shipping ferry services between the port of Cochin and Kulhudhuffushi, Haa Dhaalu Atoll.

This agreement aims to provide easier access to Indian markets which will benefit locals engaged in maritime commerce. Moreover, the MOU will establish routes for easy and affordable passenger travel between Maldivian and Indian ports.

In addition, Maldives and India will also sign two MOUs on cooperation in the health sector, along with an agreement between the Indian Navy and the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) regarding information sharing on white shipping, encompassing non-military and non-government shipping vessels.
