The President's Office confirmed that Sinan Ali was appointed to the Board of Directors of Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC).

Sinan, who had filled several high ranking positions during the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, was appointed to MTCC's board for a third time on February 2.

During Sinan's first tenure at MTCC, he was abruptly appointed as the Chairman of State Electric Company (STELCO). However, he was transferred back to MTCC after three days.

Additionally, Sinan also served as a board member at Island Aviation Servies (IAS) before being dismissed in September 2018 amidst disagreements within the then ruling coalition which consisted of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and Maldives Development Alliance (MDA).

The current administration has come under criticism for appointing Sinan, who had openly expressed disapproval concerning prominent members of the then opposition coalition.

Sinan has also been accused of illicit sexual relations, with claims asserting that he invited young women to his private office under the premise of giving them jobs. A video regarding the matter was also leaked on social media.

The issue was relayed to the Prosecutor General's Office during the previous government. However, it is unclear whether the case was forwarded to court.
