President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih on Friday sent a message of condolence to the Prime Minister of the Australia Scott Morrison, following the death of Former Australian Prime Minister Bob Hawke.
In his message, President Solih expressed sadness at the passing of the former PM.
"The former Prime Minister exemplified the best traditions of statesmanship, blending a high-minded commitment to public service, with a convivial nature and genuine empathy that appealed to ordinary people."
President Solih also noted that Australia along with the whole world would remember Prime Minister Hawke's dedication towards social and environmental causes, especially his determination to end poverty in Australia and give workers their due.
"I express my sincere condolences to the former Prime Minister's family and friends and also our deepest sympathies to Australian nationals mourning the loss of a beloved figure who had been part of Australia's political landscape and influenced it for the better over so many years. May he rest in peace.”
