The body of the Ukranian tourist, who was killed in a road accident earlier this week, was handed over to her family.
Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC)'s CEO Hussain Shah told local media Mihaaru that the deceased's family has departed to India to make arrangements at the Ukranian Embassy in New Delhi, to transfer the body back home.
The victim was a 31-year-old Ukranian woman, who was out on a morning stroll on May 6, when an MTCC bus veered out of control and ran her over.
Her mother arrived in Maldives on Wednesday to collect her body, which is currently at the mortuary in capital Male'.
The driver of the bus has been remanded for three days.
MTCC is assisting the family of the victim with the arrangements for their stay and to transport her body back to Ukraine.
