The mother of the tourist, who was killed in a freak bus accident in reclaimed suburb Hulhumale', arrived in Maldives on Wednesday.
Police spokesperson and Chief Inspector Izmia Zahir stated that the deceased's family is working to transport her body back home.
The victim was a 31-year-old Ukranian woman, who was out on a morning stroll on Monday, when a bus of Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC) veered out of control and ran her over.
Local media reports that the bus driver dozed off and accidentally hit the accelerator, losing control of the bus which was en route to the Hulhumale' ferry terminal.
The Criminal Court on Tuesday extended his remand by three days.
Meanwhile, MTCC also announced that the company is extending assistance to the family of the victim, to make arrangements for their stay and in transporting the deceased back to Ukraine.
