Passport applicants can settle their payments via electronic mail from April 29 onwards, Maldives Immigration announced.
In a statement released Monday, Immigration stated that a special link will be sent to individuals who apply for passports via e-mail, through which they can pay for their passports and revenue stamp online.
Immigration also revealed that passports will be issued to email-applicants within 24 hours from April 29, while previously the service took up to 48 hours.
With the implementation of the online payment system on Monday, Immigration noted that applicants now have to present themselves at the Immigration office only to receive their passports.
In the statement, Immigration assured that its staff remained committed to enhancing and progressing their services. Immigration further revealed its target of unveiling a special online portal for passport applications within this year.
