United Nations (UN) Resident Coordinator and United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Representative Shoko Noda on Saturday paid a farewell call to Elections Commission (EC).

Shoko met with Elections Commission’s Chairman Ahmed Shareef, Vice Chairman Amjad Musthafa and member Ismail Habeeb Abdul Raheem ahead of her imminent departure from office slated for April 30.

During the meeting, Shoko expressed her gratitude to EC for conducting elections in a way that upholds the values and components of democracy.

Moreover, Shoko had met with Speaker of Parliament Qasim Ibrahim, Faris Maumoon, Minister of Home Affairs Imran Abdulla and various other government and independent bodies as the last days of her tenure approach.

Shoko had assumed office on October 19, 2014, and had championed causes such as human rights, gender equality, and preservation of environment during her tenure.
