Govt lifts suspension of State Minister Akram Kamaluddin

President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih, on Tuesday, nullified the suspension of State Minister of Planning and Infrastructure Akram Kamaluddin.

He was suspended regarding a money transaction with SOF, a company linked to the MVR 1.3 billion embezzlement case of Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).

Spokesperson of the President’s Office, Ibrahim Hoodh, stated that Akram’s suspension was lifted and he was instructed to report for duty.

Minister of Youth, Sports and Community Empowerment Ahmed Mahloof’s suspension in relation to the MMPRC case was also lifted.

All who were linked to the MMPRC corruption case remarked that they were not aware that they were dealing with embezzled funds.

Four government officials were suspended in the MMPRC investigation including Mahloof, Akram, Fenaka Chairman Ahmed Mausoom and Island Aviation Services' board member Abdullah Azim.

Hoodh stated that Mausoom and Azim’s suspensions have not yet been lifted.
