Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulla Shahid attended the Berlin Energy Transition Dialogue 2019 (BETD), held in Berlin, Germany, on Tuesday.
During the BETD, Minister Shahid took part in a panel discussion on 'Geopolitics in the age of renewable energy'.

While addressing the gathering, he stated that the term 'geopolitics' is commonly understood in conflictual dimensions and that it implies rivalry and imperial expansion.
He went on to state that for Maldives, geopolitics means the necessity to promote interdependence, collaboration, and cooperation for share benefits.

The BETD is a leading international forum for exchanging ideas on safe, affordable and environmentally responsible global transition.
This year's dialogue is scheduled to take place on April 9-10.
