Police set up checkpoints along Sinamale’ Bridge, highway

The Police, on Monday, established checkpoints to inspect vehicles on the Sinamale’ Bridge and its connecting highway.

According to the police, the checkpoints were installed to reduce the incidence of accidents, deter vehicles from travelling at high speeds, and prevent violating of traffic regulations.

Police stated that they will be establishing checkpoints at various positions along the bridge and highway.

A high number of traffic accidents have been reported on the Sinamale' Bridge and highway recently.

The latest accident involved a high-speed crash of a car on Sunday morning, when the driver lost control. The car knocked down a street light and crashed through the side railing, coming to a halt on the pavement after ramming into the concrete parapet. The vehicle was damaged beyond repair.
