An elderly citizen involved in a road accident in Male' City is in critical condition.
The 74 year old victim, now identified as Ahmed Manik, is the father of former Minister of Health Abdulla Ameen and the Maldivian Ambassador to Japar Mohamed Ameeth, is being treated in Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
He was taken to the hospital's emergency room.
Authorities report that the accident took place on Boduthakurufaanu Magu near the Progressive Party of Maldives' (PPM) main party office.
Police said they received a report of a collision between a motorbike and a car near the party office.
IGMH reported that Ahmed Manik suffered internal hemorrhaging because of which he had been unconscious since the accident.
