Housing Development Corporation (HDC) is seeking parties to operate the Temporary Fish Market HDC located in Hulhumale' phase one.

HDC has announced interested parties to submit their application forms between 9:30 am and 11:00 pm on November 22 to the corporation. Applications can be submitted at 11:30 am to HDC's exhibition center of the same day.

HDC said that the lease holder of the market will be determined by the number of applicants.

Hulhumale' Temporary Fish Market is 2,378 square feet in size, with 12 dedicated stations to cut and display fish.

The fish market will be leased for a period of one year for a monthly rent of MVR 5,000. A lease deposit of MVR 15,000 is to be paid within seven days of receiving the offer letter.

A draw is taken to determine the lessee of the fish market. The issue of leasing the market to the winner of the draw without a bid evaluation had escalated in the past while some had taken the matter to Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) as well.

However, HDC said that applications for the fish market were not opened under a bidding policy and that the company carried out the draw in accordance with the announcement made by the corporation including all applicants.
