Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Information, and Arts have decided to postpone the night activities scheduled for the New Year's celebration under the "Dhivehinge Raajje Festival 2024."
In a notice published by the ministry on Friday, they acknowledged that Maldivians from across the country are interested in participating in the festival.
However, due to the Maldives Meteorological Service (MET) issuing yellow alerts over large parts of the country, predicting thunderstorms and strong winds, the ministry has decided to delay the night activities of the festival as traveling to participate in its activities may be unsafe.
A music show, a laser show, and fireworks were planned for the evening.
