Victory Advances to First Division

Victory reclaimed the top spot with a 2-0 win over New Radiant.

Having won in the second semi-final match of the second division football tournament, Victory is set to enter the final against Masodi. Masodi secured their place in the final and also earned promotion to the first division by defeating Tent Sports yesterday. This time, the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) has implemented rules ensuring the promotion of both finalists from the second division to the first division.

The much-anticipated second division final between Victory and Masodi is scheduled to kick off at 3:30 pm on Friday.

Despite an initial threat from New Radiant, Victory skillfully maneuvered their way into the game, and Hussain Faisal (Phyto) scored in the 26th minute to take the lead. Scoring opportunities were limited for both teams, and Ibrahim Rizhan (Rizko) sealed Victory's win with the second goal in the 67th minute.

After a hiatus of four years, Victory has successfully earned promotion to the first division. The team faced suspension on December 12, 2019, following a premier league match against TC Sports Club during the second round of the 2019/2020 season.

Victory was relegated upon suspension, compelling the team to endure it and participate in the second division. In the subsequent 2020/2021 season, there was no second division. Despite the challenges, the team managed to overcome the suspension just days before the start of the 2022 second division, but unfortunately, they couldn't advance to the group stage.

New Radiant, who last participated in the Premier League in 2018, faced suspension on January 26, 2019, just before the start of the next season. Both New Radiant and Victory emerged from suspension around the same period.

In the previous second division, New Radiant experienced a loss in the semi-finals.
