New Radiant wins first match played after a year's hiatus

Popular football team, New Radiant Sports Club defeats Grande Sports Club 3-0 on their first competitive match in a year.

This match was scheduled for 31st December last year. However, due to a heavy downpour, the playoff was postponed.

Prior to this, the last official match played by the New Radiant team was in 2022's first division. They lost the August 14 semi-finals during a penalty shoot-out.

New Radiant won last Saturday's match that faced them against Teenage by default due to the latter forfeiting the match after failing to show up.

Relegated in the 2022 National Premiere League, Da Grande had lost their first 3 playoffs of the 2nd Division's group stages this year, losing their chance to proceed to the next match. Their final match will be played against Teenage.

Under Coach Ahmed Nimaadh (Nimaa)'s guidance, New Radiant finished the first half as the leading team due to Abu Sanoon's goal in the 23rd minute of the match. Kofu Ovucu widened the margin with his goal in the first minute of the Second Half and the last goal of the match was scored by Ahmed Ayaaz (Ayaa), three minutes before the final whistle.

With this result, both New Radiant and Tent Sport Club has achieved six points during Group B's first two matches. While BG Sports Club won two matches and lost one, Grande and Teenage has failed to score a single point.

BG accumulated a total of 6 points, after defeating Grande last Thursday with a 5-1 score in which all five goals were scored during the first half. Grande scored their only goal 15 minutes prior to the end of the match due to a goal shot by Ismail Nazeeh.

BG's forward Muzdhaan Hassan scored a Hetrick during this match. The other two goals were accumulated by Mohamed Safeer and Mohamed Nishan.

During the match that faced off Group C's Lorenzo Sports Club and Club PK on Thursday, PK emerged victory with a 1-0 score. The only goal of the match was scored into the middle of the second half during a free kick by Ahmed Nizam.

This is PK's first victory out of the three matches they had played. Similarly, Lorenzo also had accumulated three points within three matches. While Group C's Victory Sports Club and Lagoons Sport Club had triumphed both their matches, Bisburu Sports was defeated in both.
