First Lady Fazna Ahmed inaugurated the Hulhumalé Halfway House clinic on Sunday, August 13.

The facility has been established to rehabilitate and reintegrate individuals who have struggled with drug abuse.

Due to the deterioration of the previous building, extensive renovations were undertaken, including the construction of an additional building. The fully refurbished halfway house, which now includes a dedicated women's wing, was officially reopened in 2022.

The clinic was established to complement the services provided at the women's rehabilitation center within the halfway house and to expand the range of services provided by the existing clinic.

The President's Office said that the newly inaugurated clinic, "Dhaalan", will assist with women's rehabilitation and offer family planning solutions.

Services of Dhaalan Clinic:

- Family planning and reproductive health services

- Treatment for general diseases

- Addiction treatment

- Tobacco cessation therapy

- In-patient and out-patient services

- Virtual medical consultations

Dhaalan will collaborate with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and the Society for Health Education (SHE) to conduct awareness programs on family planning and childbirth issues.

The clinic offers centralized treatment to those who previously had difficulty accessing it. It also provides skills training to help individuals reintegrate into society and support themselves, according to the President's Office.

The women’s special rehabilitation center at the Halfway House has a capacity to accommodate 20 patients for treatment, while the rehabilitation center of the Halfway House can accommodate up to 58 patients at one time.
