Maldives Immigration, on Thursday, inaugurated the service of business VISA issuance in Addu City at a ceremony held at the international terminal of Gan International Airport.

Immigration Controller Mohamed Ahmed Hussain and Addu City's Mayor Abdulla Sodiq presided over the inauguration ceremony.

In his address to the audience, Mayor Sodiq stated that the availability of business VISAs was a considerable advancement which would open opportunities for local businesses and provide convenience.

Despite this, Mayor Sodiq also highlighted public concerns that work VISAs could not be attained in the region and expressed hopes that Immigration would establish the service as well.

Immigration Controller Hussain also spoke at the ceremony, stating that the aim of Maldives Immigration was to ensure the convenient provision of services demanded by consumers and guarantee that all their services and related information were easily accessible. According to the Controller, immigration would identify problematic areas and provide reliable solutions.

According to the Immigration Controller, business VISAs would be processed and issued 48 hours after application and information about the service would be provided via social media.

He also stated that the service was established in Addu due to high demand and because similar efforts had been made in the past.

In the future, the controller stated that more regions of Maldives would receive access to the service and that work visas would be available in Addu shortly as well.
