A Dutch citizen has been arrested for smuggling six kilograms of party drugs into the Maldives.
The 30-year-old, Mazesa Enoch Disonama from the Netherlands, was apprehended with the drugs concealed in zip-lock bags in his luggage.
The Criminal Court remanded him in custody for 15 days. The court order said that Disonama is likely to pose a danger to society if released.

In his defense, Disonama claimed he came to the Maldives on holiday and denied involvement in smuggling the drugs. He said that although the luggage was his, he was unaware of the drugs and alleged that they were packed by others without his knowledge.
