Two foreigners were arrested in Hulhumale' yesterday for attempting to flee from the police with cans of liquor.
The men, identified as 34-year-old Tak Bahadur Rilamy, a Nepali national, and 34-year-old Bahaaruddin, a Bangladeshi, were apprehended during a police patrol in Hulhumale' 1 around 10:00 pm.
The two men were seen disembarking from a dinghy near the Reethigas Magu bridge, carrying a box. When the police spotted them, one of the men tried to flee, but both were arrested.
Upon arrest, police discovered 72 cans of liquor in their possession.
The authorities are currently investigating the incident.
Recently, a growing number of foreigners have been caught with liquor in Hulhumale'. Some of these cases have already been handed over to Immigration for potential deportation.
