Two plots of land for the construction of indoor netball and futsal complexes have been allocated from Hulhumalé.

The allocation includes 54,992 square feet of land for the indoor futsal facility, strategically situated in front of Phase II's Hiyaa 16th Tower. Concurrently, the land for the construction of indoor netball grounds spans 50,142 square feet and has been granted from the area in front of Phase I's Ghaazee School.

The formal agreement for the land allotment was signed in a ceremony at the Hiyaa area of Phase II, involving representatives from HDC, the Finance Ministry, and the Sports Ministry. HDC Managing Director Ibrahim Fazul Rasheed signed on behalf of HDC, while Minister Mohamed Shafeeg represented the Finance Ministry, and Minister Abdulla Rafiu signed for the Sports Ministry.

During the ceremony, Minister Rafiu highlighted that these two complexes are the largest in the country designed for multi-purpose sports activities, expressing optimism about a transformative impact on the sports landscape.

Fazul emphasized the importance of sports in youth development and assured continued support from the company for the advancement of sports initiatives.

Despite the popularity of futsal in the country, official tournaments are currently held on mini-turf grounds. The newly designated indoor futsal facility aims to address this gap, providing a space that meets FIFA's standards for futsal practice and competitions.

On the other hand, netball, which initially conducted official tournaments on vacant outdoor land seven years ago, will now benefit from a dedicated indoor facility, enhancing the quality of gameplay and practice for clubs.
