The parliament passed a monthly salary of overall MVR 42,000 for the four members of the National Pay Commission.
During the parliament sitting held Wednesday, the report sent by the Public Finance Committee was passed unanimously by 52 members.
The committee agreed to pay MVR 12,000 for the president of the commission while all other members are to receive a per month salary of MVR 10,000. While Finance Minister Ahmed Munawwar is the appointed president, a decision has not yet been made for his salary.
With the passing of this amendment, Pay Commission members will not receive additional privileges from other acts and regulations.
