A case has been filed before the Parliament's National Security Committee (241 committee) alleging the forced retirement of Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) offcials.

The matter was referred to the National Security Committee by Villingili MP Saud Hussain. However, no further details of the case were disclosed.

In addition, a case has been submitted to the committee regarding the prevention of the promotion of police officers. The motion was submitted by Dhuvaafaru MP Ismail Ahmed.

A number of police officers, including five who had been promoted to the rank of assistant commissioners 48 hours after the end of former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's administration. The then Commissioner of Police Mohamed Hameed had said that the promotions had been postponed due to the presidential election, even though the budget had been allocated and decided according to the law.

However, during the transition phase, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) ordered the police to place the promotions on hold. Since it was an order sent without reference to any law, the police brought the matter to the Prosecutor General's (PG) notice, who then advised that the order should not be implemented. Since then, the ACC has taken the issue of these promotions to the Civil Court.

So far, the 241 Committee has not discussed these issues. However, the two issues will be taken up at the next earliest committee meeting, a member of the committee told Mihaaru News.
