The Pay Commission has delivered the new pay structure for police and military personnel to the respective agencies on Thursday, fulfilling President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih's commitment.

Miuvaan Mohamed, the former spokesperson for the President's Office, announced the implementation of a revised structure for the two agencies, resulting in increased salaries for police and military personnel starting from January.

During the presidential campaign in September, President Solih pledged a salary increase for security personnel. Despite the tight timeline, the Pay Commission completed its work just one day before the end of his five-year term.

While specific details of the new pay structure were not disclosed by the Pay Commission, President Solih, in August, provided an overview of the proposed salary adjustments.

He said that the salary of a Constable rank policeman would increase from MVR 11,000 to MVR 15,400, and an employee with a Private rank in the military would see their salary rise from MVR 11,500 to MVR 16,300 once the changes are implemented.
