Ministry of Economic Development has held discussions on possible collaboration with this popular global social media network to unlock new avenues for digital monetization.
The Economic Ministry in a post on X said that it had held discussions with TikTok's senior delegation.
The ministry said the discussions with TikTok were held as building a thriving creative economy is a key pledge of President Dr Muizzu in his manifesto.
TikTok content creators already earn money from it. TikTok's "Creativity Program" which replaced its predecessor "Creator Fund" allows creators to get paid based on the views and engagement your videos receive.
Some people in Maldives are also earning their income in this way.
