T-rex and former league champion Kings has easily secured victory of the National Basketball League's First Division's first matches.
The championship started with the match between T-Rex and Stingers, which T-rex won 137 to 46. The strongest scorer of this match was Ahmed Vildhan who secured 33 points for his team.
The next game matched Royals with former champion Kings and the latter triumphed the match 125 to 42. Abdulla Amzar Mohamed of team Kings scored 27 points while Ahmed Ali Mustafa recorded a shooting score of 20.
Today at 1900 hrs, Red Wings will be facing Raptors for the third match of the league after which Queens and Elite will face off tonight at 2130hrs to commence the Female Division matches.
To launch off this year's Basketball season, the MBA (Maldives Basketball Association) had arranged a special match including all six men's teams of the First Division which the President, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, also attended.
This match was secured by Team B, a merge of Raptors, T-Rex and Royals who won by a 7 point margin of 68-61. Team A consisted players of the teams Stingers, Red Wings and Kings.
